The very sharply upward angle of gunshot trajectory is highly unusual and is inconsistent with being shot while running away from a shooter. A steep angle of, say, 15 degrees from vertical, means that the torso of the victim had to be nearly parallel to the gunshot. In contrast, the usual projectile trajectory caused when a victim is running away from a shooter is nearly horizontal, i.e., with the victim’s body perpendicular to the gunshot. Explanations for this unusual trajectory include a victim lying prone while being shot from beneath his feet. This many occur when a victim is fleeing out of a window or climbing out of a car fleeing from a shooter. It is very unlikely that a person running in flight away from a shooter would have their torso so sharply angled away from the shooter.
