Intraocular lens (IOL) choice can be a challenge in post-LASIK patients who subsequently undergo cataract surgery. Despite the IOL choice, a LASIK, post-cataract patient should be correctable with eyeglasses/contact lenses and in no way should that impede or impact the ability to monitor and evaluate pre-existing glaucoma. In a patient who fails to obtain the expected correctable vision despite numerous interventions (including LASIK retreatment and IOL repositioning), other causes of the poorer vision, such as glaucomatous optic nerve damage, need to be explored. However, these interventions can result in unrelated complications, further damaging the eye and requiring additional interventions.
