The Genitourinary Tract

The genitourinary tract in males includes the kidneys, ureters, urethra, penis, urinary bladder, nerves, scrotum, testes, epididymis, vas deferens, seminal vesicles and the prostate. The urethra extends from the bladder to an external opening called the meatus and serves as vehicle (passageway) for urine and semen. The urethra is approximately 23 inches long in men and divides in two parts, anterior and posterior or front and back. The penile urethra is the most distal segment and ends at the urethral meatus. The urinary bladder is a hollow muscular organ and its function is to store and expel urine.

Genitourinary tract medical expert witness specialties include urology, forensic pathology, pathology, pediatric urology, and urogynecology.
