Mold Toxicity

There is considerable public concern about mold and its potential byproduct toxins (mycotoxins) in schools, residential buildings and in workplace environments. Mycotoxins, however, are of high molecular weight and do not outgas into the environment. The only mechanism that may cause human injury from mycotoxins is oral ingestion—not inhalation. For example, eating poison mushrooms could result in multisystem toxic illness; yet, inhaling air in a mold-contaminated indoor space could not.
