Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS)
The commonly used scoring system used to describe the level of consciousness of a patient with a range of 3-15 (3 no reactivity at all; 15 completely normal). The GCS has three response components–the eye, verbal, and motor. A GCS score of 8 or less indicates potential brain injury.
